Why are there so many rich Democrats? Why do political hacks like John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, John Edwards, et al., who are worth between many millions and billions apiece, get to be Democrats? What in the world do they have in common with the demographic for which they are supposedly always fighting…the poor and downtrodden?
On a highly-related note, what gives with the disinclination of so many Democrats to pay taxes? Here’s the quick rundown of the high-profile Democrats, nominated for various cabinet positions by the new president, who apparently can’t see their way to paying Uncle Sam the way you and I do:
Nancy Killefer, who was nominated to be, of all things, the first “Chief Performance Officer” for the federal government, failed to pay unemployment taxes on household help for a year and a half. She has withdrawn her nomination for this esteemed post;
Tom Daschle, the one-time Democratic leader in the U.S. Senate, withdrew his nomination to be secretary of Health and Human Services, because it came out that he didn’t pay income tax as he was supposed to;
Tim Geithner, your new treasury secretary, was actually approved by the senate (thanks largely to some spineless…or themselves dishonest…Republicans), in spite of the fact that he didn’t pay self-employment taxes for several years.
I am in no way giving a pass to Republicans who don’t pay taxes as they should, but at least there’s more intellectual honesty to Republican tax dodges than there is to Democrat tax dodges. Republicans, as a party, dislike taxes and love personal wealth, so when individual Republicans behave accordingly, they are at least acting in concert with the general ideology of the party. It is when Democrats accumulate sickening amounts of wealth and avoid paying taxes that we should be 1,000 times more offended. It is Democrats who champion the effort to raise taxes at every turn on us Johnny Lunchbuckets, so that government can continue handing checks out to the poor and “disadvantaged” whom Democrats profess to love…and on whose votes they count to get re-elected.
Elite Democrats hate all of us who make up the Great Unwashed, and they do so every bit as much as does the most stereotypically snobby Republican fat-cat. Do you think for one moment that John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, or John Edwards spends any regular time in the company of the most disadvantaged among us? What of Daschle or Geithner? How about President Obama? When’s the last time he invited some representatives of society’s displaced poor to live with his family until they got back on their feet? Remember when Bill Clinton said that he felt our pain? Bill Clinton didn’t care at all about our pain, and shame on any voting fool who thought so. Another elite Democrat liar.
The truth is that people, all people, like money, and want to make and keep as much of it as is realistically possible within the realm of their own particular circumstances. Democrats, however, can’t be honest about that, because they are brazen vote thieves. They steal votes by pretending to care about the poor and downtrodden (who are, of course, voters), only to laugh and sneer at them behind a shield of wealth and self-instituted privilege. They are truly, in my estimation, among the vilest of human beings. Remember every one of them who comes up for re-election (or election) in 2010.
