When Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law the nation’s first example of a meaningful attempt in the modern era to deal with the illegal immigration menace that has cost untold numbers of lives and a sum of dollars that is nothing short of astronomical, I took it for what I believe it is: a sign that sensible citizens, in at least one corner (literally) of these United States, have decreed that this lawlessness, so ignored by the federal government that they might as well be sanctioning it, will not be allowed to persist. I have been waiting to see this day for a long time, and it has finally, mercifully, arrived.
(Note to President Obama, who has famously referred to the legislation as “misguided:” when a state has to go to the trouble of passing a law that makes it a crime to be in the country illegally, you might want to take that as a cue that you’re not doing what you should to protect the citizens you’re charged with protecting.)
It matters not that the enemies of the people, who reside in Washington on our confiscated dollars, will likely contrive a way to marginalize or even invalidate the law; it matters not that religious leaders-cum-communist sympathizers like Cardinal Roger Mahony of the Los Angeles archdiocese will increase the frequency with which they spit in the faces of so many of America’s besieged citizens whenever they try to bring order to the insane asylum; it matters not that the groups of apologists and enablers of illegal immigration through the years will be more enraged than ever at the audacity of the citizenry’s efforts to right the ship; what matters is that the first meaningful return salvo in this war has…finally, inspiringly…been fired.

I agree with you completely. I don't have a problem if someone wants to live in the United States. If you follow the law and get your papers and truly become a valued citizen, pay your dues, etc. We welcome you!! But those that come and live off our system, cause us expense, robs our banks, kills our policemen, brings drugs, then you are not welcome and need to be extradicted immediately. Keep up the law. My hats off to Gov. Jan Brewer standing up for this society.

Amen, I only wish I had written this article! I wholeheartedly agree with you, Bob, and would pray that my home state of Illinois would follow suit. Now that would be a miracle indeed!

I agree. We (our country) is in a sad state of affairs. Obama seems not to be for us, but he is for everyone else under the sun.
