By now, you’ve heard about, or even seen, leftist comedian Stephen Colbert’s recent appearance in front of Capitol Hill, wherein he showed up as his character…whatever that is, exactly…and made a mockery of the issue of illegal immigration. Colbert appeared in front of the House Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee on immigration, on behalf of a discussion about immigration and farm workers’ rights. More than embarrassing himself, he embarrassed his fawning Democrat enablers (as if they needed any more assistance to that end) in Congress who actually thought his appearance was pretty great; yes, that idiot Nancy Pelosi really did say the following about Colbert’s appearance: “He can bring attention to an important issue like immigration. I think it’s great."
(An aside: This whackjob has been in Congress for 23 years now; given that, how is it that her constituents are still not required to submit to drug testing just prior to entering the voting booth?)
Honestly, I don’t whether to be distressed at the poor judgment demonstrated by the members of Congress who thought that Colbert’s appearance was wonderful, or thrilled to see it, given that this is even more ammunition for the level-headed come November.
On a related note, I’m glad Colbert thinks the matter of illegal immigration is so terrifically funny. Maybe he could show up and do his “routine” at the home of Jamiel Shaw, an L.A. teenager who was gunned down two years ago by an illegal alien; or, how about making a special Christmas Eve appearance in front of the family of Gary Gryder, a Houston, Texas police officer who was killed in the line of duty by an illegal alien? Perhaps a special Stephen Colbert show might make the holidays a bit more festive for the Gryders. Maybe Colbert’s “shtick” would be considered especially funny by the family of Frank Brooks, a five-year-old boy killed in 2008 when he was run down by an illegal alien; Colbert could show up each and every May 24, the anniversary of the boy’s killing, and do a special routine just for his folks, one that highlights all of the amusing features of illegal immigration that they can’t seem to notice because they are so selfishly consumed by their own grief.
What say, you, Mr. Colbert, Ms. Pelosi, and Ms. Lofgren (that would be Zoe Lofgren, the U.S. Congresswoman and mental midget who beckoned Colbert to appear before Congress in the first place)? Don’t you think that would be some really funny stuff??
