I’m thrilled that the heat is once again being turned up on NPR, and I hope this time that the structure burns to the ground. That this overtly left-wing organ is funded with taxpayer dollars is but one more shameful example, of the bazillions out there, of government hostage-taking of its citizenry.
The genesis of this latest outcry, of course, is rooted in the recent firing by NPR of Juan Williams, one of the few remotely-sensible liberals in the media, for making an on-air personal confession on Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor (Williams is a regular Fox news contributor) that he gets “worried” and “nervous” when faced with the prospect of flying on the same planes with people whose adherence to Islam is so great that they literally wrap themselves in the cloak of the religion.
Like that’s a revelation; we all feel as Williams claims to, whether we say it out loud or not - it is as natural as breathing.
The CEO of NPR, Vivian Schiller, was not satisfied in merely dismissing Williams, but went on to question his mental health by saying publicly that he “should have kept his feelings about Muslims between himself and his psychiatrist or his publicist.” Her subsequent retraction of that statement matters not at all; we all know public apologies like that are lies. Perhaps Williams should consider doing something to confirm Schiller’s declaration about his sanity, like smacking her in the head; what would he have to lose? It’s not like she can fire him again, and she’s already suggested he’s mentally incompetent, so she can’t really sue him or have him arrested…
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) has introduced legislation to defund NPR. Just do it. Be done with it. Let the liberal elites keep it afloat themselves if they love it so much, and let’s take a big step toward eliminating our own long-standing version of state-run media.
