How relieved I am to learn that the NAACP has concluded what was surely a thoughtful analysis and determined that, yes, the Tea Party movement is indeed replete with white racists (it’s important to distinguish this group from the NAACP itself, which, we all know intuitively, is loaded with black racists). The report reads, in part, that the Tea Party movement is “permeated with concerns about race” and that it has “given platform to anti-Semites, racists, and bigots.” This “study” was completed, and its “results” issued, only a few months after delegates at the group’s 101st annual convention passed a resolution condemning widespread racism in the Tea Party movement, which leads me to wonder what this report is all about; after all, if the NAACP felt strongly enough to pass the aforementioned resolution back in July, why was this report needed? Perhaps this was just an update…you know, as if to say, “Just wanted to let you know that three months after we said you guys were a pack of racists, nothing has changed.” What a great help that is.
The hilarious and idiotic irony, of course, is that an organization that has as its raison d’etre the matter of racial self-interest is pointing fingers at other groups that they fear may have members viewing the events of the day from a standpoint of racial self-interest, as well. I have yet to see an objective, internal review report from the NAACP of its own members that was commissioned to determine how many of its rank-and file are racist, nor do I expect one to be forthcoming.
Exit polls from the 2008 presidential election have suggested with great clarity that at least 95% of black voters cast their ballots for Barack Obama, while white voters voted for McCain to the tune of about 55%. Given nothing more than those stats, if I was the NAACP and sincerely concerned about racist tendencies, I would be greatly alarmed at the obviously rampant racism exhibited by the black electorate….but then, black racism is apparently no problem for the NAACP.
